Home!

Aaaahhh, we are finally back from Fresno. It was really fun seeing the family and seeing my step cousin, Joseph get married. I don't know how anyone can live in the dry and hot summer weather of Fresno, I guess they must be used to it after so many years of living there...
The wedding was fun and so was the reception. The food was super yummy and they played classic songs like Frank Sinatra's "Young at Heart" along with their first dance song, "At Last" sung by Etta James. Very sweet!
It's good to be back home again after some long car rides to and fro. Now to continue the count down to New York!!

Off to Fresno We go...

Tomorrow, we will be packing up the car for a brief road trip. We're going to Fresno for a wedding in the evening and then heading back early Sunday morning. I'm looking forward to the wedding and seeing my dad's family again. This will be my second wedding this summer! How fun :) And of course I have the grand finale of Kari's wedding in the beautiful sate of Vermont!
Yesterday, we received the invite to Kari's Bridal shower that will be at the Bennington Station. I have never been there before, but it sounds so nice! My mom says it's wonderful. I'm really looking forward to attend this special event.

Our trip is only 18 days away...time is going by really fast!

Dreaming of Benson's Dairy Bar...

On warm summer days, what could be better than an ice cream cone??
As you know, I am impatiently waiting for the day we leave to go back east in August. I love so many things about the area and I have so many great family memories from over the years. One memory that is just so big to me is driving the 1 minute drive (literally) from my grandparent's house to Benson's Dairy Bar in Eagle Bridge, New York. It was always so fun to go at the perfect time of day, when the summer sun is setting and the fireflies start to show up. :)
Walking on the rocky, gravel ground and ordering our ice cream, then sitting in the car or in the gazebo and enjoying the weather with our cool treats. My mom would order the chocolate/vanilla twist, my grandma would get the sundae, and my sister and I would have our usual vanilla soft serve cones that I later discovered were ten times better with sprinkles, thanks Kari! :)
My sister thinks I'm off my rocker, but I think that I just might want to go to Benson's every night on our visit...is that extremely crazy?? I mean, if we have ice cream some where else that day I wouldn't go because I would have already had my ice cream fix for the day. But why not enjoy it while I can?? I guess she wouldn't understand since she is not an ice cream lover like I am...maybe that's a good thing! ;)

It's Official!

I am SO excited that we have finally purchased our plane tickets for my cousin's wedding!! We will be leaving the 10th, on a red-eye flight. Arriving morning on the 11th, and staying until the 23rd! It seems like a good amount time, but it always seems to fly by so fast...no matter how long we stay.

I am so ready to visit family in upstate New York and enjoy Vermont too. I have begun brain storming fun things and traditions that must be included on this trip. Of course, helping Kari get ready for her wedding is the biggest and most exciting thing on the list! She will be such a beautiful bride..and the wedding is going to be amazing!
Like every summer visit, it is a must that we go to Benson's Dairy Bar and enjoy a soft serve cone smothered with rainbow sprinkles...that is the best ever! And also hit a few other fun ice cream and eatery places that I miss while we are away. Ooohhh, I just wish the time was already here. This is probably the toughest thing for me to wait for, it always has been! I can't wait!!!

Summer Reading...

It feels as though I have not blogged in such a long time. I can not believe how fast the summer is already flying by, and it's July!
This week has been a relaxing, no frills kinda week.. so I have had my head in a new book that I got from the library. It's called 'Blue Like Jazz' by Donald Miller. It's such a great book! I recommend it for every Christian, and especially for those who are still trying to understand more about Christianity.

My sister is off in Africa now! She left last week and we all miss her here. It was such a blessing to talk with her though online. And she has also called a few times when she could :) Sounds like the Lord is really using the team in amazing ways!

Happy July to you!
